Donald Trump made headlines earlier today when he provided what he said was a copy of his birth certificate -- but a quick check reveals it's actually not an official document.
The paper that Trump released says "Jamaica Hospital" on top and lists the date and time of what he says was his birth to "Mr. and Mrs. Fred C. Trump." The piece of paper has a seal at the bottom.
But after several New York City-based readers contacted POLITICO's Maggie Haberman, her call to city officials revealed that an actual birth certificate, which is issued by the Department of Health, would have the agency's seal and also a signature of the city registrar - neither of which the Trump document has. Officials said the city Health Department is the "sole issuing authority" of official birth certificates in New York, and that the document would clearly say so, and "city officials said it's not an official document."
It appears instead to be a hospital "certificate of birth," meaning the piece of paper the hospital gave to his family saying he was born. Such a document typically has the signature of the hospital administrator and the attending physician.
Trump lawyer and advisor Michael Cohen didn't respond to Haberman's question about the document.

Donald Trump now sees himself as something of a patron saint for the birthers – and he's even released his own birth certificate as he steps up criticism of the president.
Seeking to pump more energy into the birther movement and quirky chase for the White House, Trump on Monday provided a copy of his birth certificate to the conservative website Newsmax – which has played a leading role in trumpeting birther mythology.
“Now, this guy either has a birth certificate or he doesn’t,” Trump said. “And I didn't think this was such a big deal, but I will tell you, it’s turning out to be a very big deal because people now are calling me from all over saying, please don't give up on this issue."
Trump’s insistence that he’s being encouraged to continue on his birther crusade has led to what he says is the startling revelation that, “all of a sudden, a lot of facts are emerging and I’m starting to wonder myself whether or not [Obama] was born in this country."

Prominent nuclear and radiation expert Dr. Christopher Busby has slammed British global warming alarmist George Monbiot as being “criminally irresponsible” for writing a series of articles for the Guardian in which Monbiot downplays the threat of radiation from the stricken Fukushima nuclear plant in a bid to shore up his claims about man-made climate change being a far deadlier concern.
In the wake of Fukushima, we have seen numerous self-proclaimed environmentalists who are normally so quick to raise the alarm about devastation caused by man-made global warming, actually downplaying the environmental concerns attached to the Fukushima crisis, radiation, and nuclear power in general.
Chief amongst them is prominent British environmentalist George Monbiot, who in an article for the London Guardian last week entitled, Why Fukushima made me stop worrying and love nuclear power, wrote that critics of how Fukushima is being handled had, “wildly exaggerated the dangers of radioactive pollution”.
“As a result of the disaster at Fukushima, I am no longer nuclear-neutral. I now support the technology,” added Monbiot.
Monbiot’s bizarre nuclear “kool-aid” moment was perhaps written in haste at a time when he believed Japanese claims that the crisis was diminishing. But in the past few days, the situation at Fukushima has worsened considerably.
Officials hastily retracted numbers yesterday which suggested that radiation levels in the containment building of reactor number 2 were an astounding 10 million times above normal. In addition, water purifications plants across Japan have been told to stop taking in rainwater as radiation levels in the atmosphere continue to rise.
Monbiot’s rhetoric is a stark reminder that many leading environmentalists don’t give a damn about real threats to the environment, preferring instead to spend all their time obsessing about carbon dioxide emissions and thinking up new ways to exploit global warming fearmongering as a means of controlling every aspect of our lives.
While weaving terrorizing scenarios about man-made climate change making whole areas of the planet uninhabitable, most notably the island of Tuvulu, which global warming alarmists already claim has been abandoned due to rising sea levels when in fact its population has doubled in the past three decades, alarmists like Monbiot don’t seem to be too fussed when real environmental catastrophes like Chernobyl really do make entire regions uninhabitable.
Indeed, others have gone even further. Columnist Ann Coulter appeared on Fox News to ludicrously proclaim that exposure to radiation was “good for you”.
Given that she’s so enamored with the apparent health benefits of radioactive fallout, which new studies blame for nearly a million cancer deaths in the 25 years since Chernobyl, we offered to send Coulter on an all-expenses paid holiday to Fukushima. We’ve not heard back from her.
During an interview with Paul Joseph Watson on The Alex Jones Show, nuclear expert Dr. Christopher Busby savaged Monbiot for dismissing the innumerable health and environmental threats posed by radiation exposure. Busby is a British scientist and former Scientific Secretary of the European Committee on Radiation Risks.
“I have to say that I know George Monbiot and he doesn’t know anything,” said Busby, adding that Monbiot’s claims were “total nonsense,” “tosh,” and that it was “criminally irresponsible for him to write what he writes given that he doesn’t know anything.”
Busby also explained how Monbiot had approached him two years ago for information about the effects of low dose radiation and how he had gone to some length to write an article for Monbiot which he subsequently ignored. “He’s quite ignorant, he’s an ignorant person when it comes to this,” said Busby.
“The nonsense he is writing now is much more dangerous because it’s in the middle of a crisis when people are being exposed to these radionuclides and becoming contaminated,” said Busby, before predicting a “very large and measurable increase in cancer and other ill health after this accident,” for people living in northern Japan and Tokyo.
Busby, who warned that the situation at Fukushima was already worse than Chernobyl, openly challenged Monbiot to a live television debate on the issue.
“I do court cases on this issue and win them, so the evidence is just massive that he’s wrong,” said Busby, adding, “I’ve researched this stuff for 20 years, I’ve written two research papers on it, I’ve studied epidemiological correlations between radiation and health – I know what I’m talking about, these people don’t know what they’re talking about,” he said.

The Fukushima crisis continues to worsen by the day, with nuclear experts around the world finally realizing and admitting we’ve all been lied to. “I think maybe the situation is much more serious than we were led to believe,” said Najmedin Meshkati of the University of Southern California, in a Reuters report (http://www.reuters.com/article/2011…). That same article revealed that recent radiation readings at Fukushima show “contamination 100,000 times normal in water at reactor No. 2 and 1,850 times normal in the nearby sea.”
Massachusetts rainwater has also been found to be contaminated with low levels of radiation from Fukushima, indicating just how widespread the radioactive fallout has become. It’s not just the West Coast of North America that’s vulnerable, in other words: even the East Coast could receive dangerous levels of fallout if Fukushima suffers a larger release of radioactive material into the air.
Rolling blackouts are now continuing throughout Japan due to the drop in power production from Fukushima diminishing Japan’s electricity generating capacity (http://english.kyodonews.jp/news/20…). The only reason Japan isn’t experiencingwidespread power blackoutsright now is because so many factories were damaged or swept away from the tsunami itself. Once a serious rebuilding effort gets underway, Japan is going to find itself critically short of electrical power.
The radiation leaking from Reactor No. 2 is now measured at1,000 millisieverts an hour– more than enough to cause someone’s hair to fall out from a single exposure event. Radiation sickness can begin at just 100 millisieverts. The extremely high levels of radiation are, in fact, making it nearly impossible for workers to continue working at the reactor. “You’d have a lot of difficulty putting anyone in there,” said Richard Wakeford, a radiation epidemiology expert at the Dalton Nuclear Institute in Manchester. “They’re finding quite high levels of radiation fields, which is impeding their progress dealing with the situation.” (http://www.businessweek.com/news/20…)
The worsening Fukushima situation is also starting to spook nearby nations such as Taiwan, which also depends on nuclear power. The DPP opposition party there announced today that it wanted to see nuclear power phased out by 2025. Taiwan is a relatively small island nation, and a Fukushima-like catastrophe would leave most of the island residents with nowhere to go. And like Japan, Taiwan is also vulnerable to earthquakes and tsunamis (as well as hurricanes).
In Germany, massive demonstrations (200,000 people in four large cities) have brought the nuclear safety issue to the forefront, contributing heavily to the defeat of Merkel and the rise to power of theGreen Partyin southwestern Germany (http://www.nytimes.com/2011/03/28/w…). Germans tend to have very strong opposition to nuclear power, in much the same way that most Europeans despise genetically modified foods.

The health ministry has instructed the operator of water purification plants nationwide to temporarily stop taking in rainwater to prevent contamination in tap water following radiation leaks from the crippled Fukushima Daiichi nuclear plant, ministry officials said Sunday.
While calling on the plants to ensure stable supply of tap water, the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare also proposed covering pools of the plants with tarps to keep out rainwater or to use powdered activated carbon that can help get rid of radioactive materials.
The instruction by the ministry came after radiation levels beyond Japan’s regulated standard were found in tap water at multiple purification plants in Fukushima and other prefectures including Tokyo, 220 kilometers southwest of the plant.
Radioactive materials emitted to the atmosphere from the nuclear plant apparently fell down to earth with the rain. Radiation levels in water fall over time after it stops raining.

Secretary of Defense Robert Gates said that Libya did not pose a threat to the United States before the U.S. began its military campaign against the North African country.
On “This Week,” ABC News’ Senior White House Correspondent Jake Tapper asked Gates, “Do you think Libya posed an actual or imminent threat to the United States?”
“No, no,” Gates said in a joint appearance with Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. “It was not — it was not a vital national interest to the United States, but it was an interest and it was an interest for all of the reasons Secretary Clinton talked about. The engagement of the Arabs, the engagement of the Europeans, the general humanitarian question that was at stake,” he said.
Gates explained that there was more at stake, however. “There was another piece of this though, that certainly was a consideration. You’ve had revolutions on both the East and the West of Libya,” he said, emphasizing the potential wave of refugees from Libya could have destabilized Tunisia and Egypt.

Two Reuters television journalists have been missing in Syria since Saturday night, when they were due to return to Lebanon.
Beirut-based producer Ayat Basma and cameraman Ezzat Baltaji had been expected to cross into Lebanon by road at approximately 1830 GMT (2:30 p.m. ET) on Saturday, where they had arranged for a taxi to pick them up from the border.
The last known contact was at 1722 GMT (1:22 p.m. ET), when Baltaji sent a phone message to a colleague in Beirut in which he said: “We will leave now.”

On Saturday, Yukiya Amano, the director of the United Nations’ International Atomic Energy Agency, said the Japanese nuclear crisis could go on for weeks, if not for months.
Test conducted Friday showed iodine 131 levels in seawater 30 km (19 miles) from the coastal Fukushima Daiichi nuclear plant had spiked 1,250 times higher than normal. Japanese officialdom insisted this unusual level does not pose a threat to marine life or food safety, according toReuters.
“Ocean currents will disperse radiation particles and so it will be very diluted by the time it gets consumed by fish and seaweed,” said Hidehiko Nishiyama, a senior agency official.
A number of countries have banned milk and produce from areas around the Fukushima Daiichi plant, while others have been monitoring Japanese seafood.
Amano told the media the Japanese have no idea if the reactor cores and spent fuel were covered with the water needed to cool them and prevent the release of radiation. “More efforts should be done to put an end to the accident,” he said and was carefully not to criticize Japan’s lackadaisical response.
An official from plant operator Tokyo Electric Power Co (TEPCO) told a Sunday news conference experts still are not certain where to put the contaminated water.
Scientists quoted by the corporate media continue to insist that radioactive particles crossing the Pacific are far too diluted to cause any harm.
In fact, scientists are complaining that the Japanese have not fowarded sufficient information on the nuclear meltdown. They say the quality and quantity of information coming out of Japan has left gaping holes in their understanding of the disaster nearly two weeks after it began.
Independent researchers, however, dispute claims that the radiation now lofting over the northern hemisphere is not dangerous. The Weather Online website has posted a number animated models showing dangerous concentrations of iodine 131 and caesium 137 entering the United States with prevailing weather and the jet stream.
The site notes that since the continuous release rate is very uncertain, the calculations have to be interpreted qualitatively.

“An international advisory body has recommended the Japanese government temporarily raise the annual limit of radiation exposure for the general public in light of the ongoing crisis at the quake- and tsunami-crippled nuclear power plant in Fukushima Prefecture,” reportsThe Mainichi Daily News.
“The government stipulates that regular citizens in Japan should be exposed to no more than 1 millisievert of radiation per year, but the International Commission on Radiological Protection (ICRP) on March 21 recommended the limit be tentatively raised to 20 to 100 millisieverts per year, with the nuclear crisis showing no signs of abating.”
The NGO said the level of permissible radiation should be increased “in order to prevent residents of Fukushima Prefecture from abandoning their hometowns.”

Earlier reports said that contamination had reached 10 million times higher than normal. The reversal highlights the sometimes overwhelming cascade of information the Japanese are now receiving about the nuclear crisis.
Officials at Japan’s stricken Fukushima Daiichi nuclear plant late Sunday retracted their announcement that they had found puddles at the facility’s No. 2 reactor containing 10 million times more radioactivity than would be found in water in a normally functioning nuclear reactor.
“The number is not credible,” Tokyo Electric Power Co. spokesman Takashi Kurita, said, according to the Associated Press. “We are very sorry.”
It was not immediately clear what led to the inaccurate reading of the water, or what the real level was.
The initial announcement of the extremely high levels of radioactivity in the turbine building of the No. 2 reactor was made by Japan’s Nuclear and Industrial Safety Agency, citing Tepco as the source of the data. The alarming-sounding disclosure raised questions about the source of the radioactivity and the extent of damage to the plant, as well as the threat to workers trying to stabilize the situation at Fukushima, which was crippled by the March 11 earthquake and tsunami that rocked Japan.

Just days after the 9.1 mega-earthquake and tsunami hit off the east cost of Japan, a former employee of Hitachi Ltd. (6501) came forward saying that he helped cover up a flawed steel protective vessel that was installed in the Fukushima Dai-Ichi Reactor 4 core in 1974. Mitsuhiko Tanaka toldBloombergthat the defective steel in the $250 million vessel was a very serious “time bomb” just waiting to go off, as it represents the key protective unit for the reactor’s core.
Though Reactor 4 was not running at the time of the quake and tsunami, its cooling pool contains a number of spent fuel rods that require proper cooling in order to prevent a serious meltdown. Earlier this week, reports indicated that the pool is empty, and that it seems to have a crack or hole that is preventing it from being effectively refilled, which could spell disaster for the 130 tons of uranium inside the reactor (http://www.naturalnews.com/031769_f…).
More recent reports say that power has been restored to Reactors 1, 2, and 4, but that crews are still concerned about “inadequate water coverage” over the spent fuel rods in the Reactor 4 cooling pool (http://uk.ibtimes.com/articles/1262…).
Concerning Tanaka’s role in the situation, the former nuclear engineer admits that he directly participated in the coverup to disguise the known safety hazard in the Reactor 4 pressure vessel — a hazard that could have devastating consequences if relief workers cannot get the situation under control in upcoming days.
According to theBloombergreport, a mistake during the final construction process of the vessel caused the steel walls to become warped. Based on regulatory guidelines, the cylinder should have been scrapped, said Tanaka, but because doing so would have potentially bankrupted the company, his bosses asked him to come up with a quick fix — and he complied.
After figuring out a way to reshape the flawed vessel and make it look as though nothing was wrong, Tanaka was awarded a three million yen bonus from Hitachi, which also gave him a certificate honoring his “extraordinary” work.
Years later when asked to participate in a documentary on the Chernobyl disaster, Tanaka says he became convicted over what he had done, and decided to come forward with the truth. When he told the Japanese Trade Ministry about the coverup in 1988, they allegedly refused to do anything about it, saying that because Hitachi had denied the accusations, they must not have been true.
Since the current situation at the Fukushima plant is still unfolding, nobody knows for sure the extent of the damage that will take place, and whether or not Tanaka’s dirty little secret will cause a very serious meltdown. In fact, so little information has been coming out of Japan regarding the situation that the world can only speculate as to what is actually going on, including whether or not all the radioactive water being dumped on the reactors is ending up back in the Pacific Ocean. Low levels of radioactive material iodine-131 were detected Saturday in Heilongjiang Province, north of Beijing, China’s National Nuclear Emergency Coordination Committee said.
The radioactive material was likely to have come from the tsunami-damaged Fukushima nuclear plant in Japan, the agency said.
However, since the radiation level was below one-hundred-thousandth of the average natural background radiation, it did not pose a risk to public health or the environment, and no protective measures were required, the agency said in a statement.
Repair work at the troubled Fukushima nuclear plant has continued into a third week. More countries are beginning to detect tiny amounts of radioactive iodine and cesium in the air that have drifted across oceans from the overheated nuclear reactors in Fukushima, where a tsunami following a 9.0-magnitude earthquake knocked out its crucial cooling system on March 11.
The Austrian capital of Vienna detected very low concentrations of radioactive particles Friday, believed to have come from Fukushima, the Austrian Agency for Health and Food Safety (AGES) said.
The detected radioactive materials were iodine-131 and cesium-137, and the tiny amount would pose no threat to human health, the Austrian agency said.
It was the first time the two radioactive materials were detected in the country since the quake struck Japan.
Sea water samples taken from about 330 meters south of the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear plant on Japan’s east coast showed radioactive iodine 1,250.8 times above legal limit near the drain outlets of the reactors, local media reported Saturday.
The reading was taken on Friday morning, recording the highest radiation level so far from the surveys begun this week, plant owner Tokyo Electric Power Co (TEPCO) said.

LONDON — Newspapers expressed disappointment on Sunday that the biggest protest in London since the 2003 demonstration against the Iraq war was overshadowed by the violence that erupted afterwards.
More than a quarter of a million Britons marched peacefully through the capital to protest government austerity cuts on Saturday, but a group of demonstrators later went on the rampage, casting a blight on proceedings.
They hurled fireworks and paint at police, attacked shops and the iconic Ritz Hotel, as well as occupying luxury food store Fortnum and Mason.
The leftwing Observer weekly regretted that “the generally good-natured mood was soured by violent and destructive attacks on symbols of wealth including the Ritz, banks and a luxury car dealers.”

It is a well-established fact that the CIA, with the assistance of Pakistan’s ISI and Saudi Arabia, ran the Islamic warrior network, including its aggressive recruitment efforts. The effort began in 1979.
In his memoir, current Defense Secretary Robert Gates admits that American intelligence services began to aid the Mujahadeen in Afghanistan 6 months before the Soviet intervention.Zbigniew Brzezinski, Jimmy Carter’s national security advisor at the time, told the French newspaper Le Nouvel Observateur in 1998 that it was all true – that creating the Mujahadeen that would later morph into al-Qaeda and the Taliban was an “excellent idea” and he had no regrets, never mind the 400,000 who died as a result.
In addition to attacking Russia in Afghanistan – an effort that would ultimately result in the downfall of the Soviet empire – and plunging that nation into a horrific civil war, the intelligence effort established al-Qaeda as a foreign policy instrument used by the globalists to take down nations and regimes (specifically in Bosnia and Kosovo) and also was used to demonize resistance to forays by the globalists.
It is no small matter that the leader of the rebels in Libya worked for the CIA, either directly or as yet another Muslim useful idiot and dupe. It reveals that the Libyan resistance to Gaddafi is business as usual – the engineered destruction of another thugocracy in the Arab and Muslim Middle East.
As I noted in 2005 (From Afghanistan to Iraq: Transplanting CIA Engineered Terrorism), al-Qaeda’s presence in Iraq was engineered by the CIA and the Pentagon, the same as it was engineered in the Balkans and the Russian Stans bordering Afghanistan.
“Islamic missionaries of the Wahabi sect from Saudi Arabia had established themselves in the Muslim republics, as well as within the Russian federation, encroaching upon the institutions of the secular State. Despite its anti-American ideology, Islamic fundamentalism was largely serving Washington’s strategic interests in the former Soviet Union, the Balkans and the Middle East,” writes Michel Chossudovsky.
This anti-American ideology and Islamic fundamentalism in Libya also serves Washington’s strategic interests, or rather the interests of the globalists as they dismember nations and establish order through chaos.
r. al-Hasidi is reportedly a member of the Libyan Islamic Fighting Group (LIFG), also known as Al-Jama’a al-Islamiyyah al-Muqatilah bi-Libya. It is the most powerful radical faction waging Jihad in Libya and was officially designated as an affiliate of al-Qaeda and the Taliban – both CIA creations – by the UN 1267 Committee. LIFG was founded in the fall of 1995 by Libyans who had fought against Soviet forces in Afghanistan, in short for the CIA and the ISI.
In 2007, documents captured by allied forces from the town of Sinjar, showed LIFG members made up the second-largest cohort of foreign fighters in Iraq, after Saudi Arabia.
Not surprisingly, another intelligence asset, al-Muhajiroun, is active in Libya. Al-Muhajiroun was involved in recruiting British Muslims to fight in Kosovo.
The now banned organization, based out of a London mosque, is known to have harbored a number of British intelligence plants, including Haroon Rashid Aswat, supposedly the mastermind of the London 7/7 bombings. In 1997, the group’s leader, Abu Hamza al-Masri, started working with two branches of the British security services, the police’s Special Branch and MI5, the domestic counterintelligence service.
None of this is mentioned by the establishment corporate media. Instead, we are fed more inflammatory propaganda, such as al-Muhajiroun hyperbole that the call for “Islam, the Shariah and jihad from Libya” had “shaken the enemies of Islam and the Muslims more than the tsunami that Allah sent against their friends, the Japanese.”
The CIA and British intelligence, at the behest of the global elite, are working to destabilize Libya and depose Gaddafi, who was an amenable stooge for transnational oil corporations even with his shady past as a supposed international terrorist.
Once again, the rapprochement of a former enemy is easily betrayed and he is cast as a humanitarian threat to the world order, a fate the former CIA asset Saddam Hussein shared before he was delivered to the gallows.

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency reported this week that trace amounts of the Fukushima nuclear power plant radiation was detected in Orange and Riverside Counties — at levels “hundreds of thousands to millions of times below levels of concern.”

A new video shows President Barack Obama, as a presidential candidate in 2007, saying that the American people have a right to know about and participate in the debate over U.S. foreign policy decisions and whether the nation uses military force.
“But the fact of the matter is that when we don’t talk to the American people – we’re debating the most important foreign policy issues that we face, and the American people have a right to know,” Obama said at the AFL-CIO debate on Aug. 7, 2007.
“It is not just Washington insiders that are part of the debate that has to take place with respect to how we’re going to shift our foreign policy,” he said.
Obama’s comments came at the end of a colloquy between himself, then-Sen. Hillary Clinton (D-N.Y.) and Sen. Chris Dodd (D-Conn.) over whether it was proper to announce, as Obama had done, that he would launch military strikes into Pakistan if Osama bin Laden was found there.

The Tokyo Electric Power Co. (TEPCO) has reported that radiation level in the containment building of reactor number 2 at the stricken Fukushima nuclear power plant is an astounding 10 million times above normal.
Officialdom soon backtracked and said those radiation readings were not accurate and that new tests had been ordered. “The number is not credible,” said TEPCO.
Last week, Japan’s nuclear agency said levels of radioactive iodine in sea near the plant had risen to 1,850 times the usual level. It claims one-half a liter of the water contains the same amount of radiation that a person can safely be exposed to in a year.
The United Nations’ nuclear agency has warned the crisis could go on for months.
It now appears the crisis will go on indefinitely. TEPCO said on Sunday it is not working to resolve the crisis. “We are examining the cause of this, but no work is being done there because of the high level of radiation,” said a TEPCO spokesman. “High levels of caesium and other substances are being detected, which usually should not be found in reactor water. There is a high possibility that fuel rods are being damaged,” he added.
Appearing on Sunday talk shows, cabinet secretary Yukio Edano said radioactive water is “almost certainly” seeping from a reactor core.

Washington DC, March 24, 2011 — The current military attack on Libya has been motivated by UN Security Council resolution 1973 with the need to protect civilians. Statements by President Obama, British Prime Minister Cameron, French President Sarkozy, and other leaders have stressed the humanitarian nature of the intervention, which is said to aim at preventing a massacre of pro-democracy forces and human rights advocates by the Qaddafi regime.
But at the same time, many commentators have voiced anxiety because of the mystery which surrounds the anti-Qaddafi transitional government which emerged at the beginning of March in the city of Benghazi, located in the Cyrenaica district of north-eastern Libya. This government has already been recognized by France and Portugal as the sole legitimate representative of the Libyan people. The rebel council seems to be composed of just over 30 delegates, many of whom are enveloped in obscurity. In addition, the names of more than a dozen members of the rebel council are being kept secret, allegedly to protect them from the vengeance of Qaddafi. But there may be other reasons for the anonymity of these figures. Despite much uncertainty, the United Nations and its several key NATO countries, including the United States, have rushed forward to assist the armed forces of this rebel regime with air strikes, leading to the loss of one or two coalition aircraft and the prospect of heavier losses to come, especially if there should be an invasion. It is high time that American and European publics learned something more about this rebel regime which is supposed to represent a democratic and humanitarian alternative to Gaddafi.
The rebels are clearly not civilians, but an armed force. What kind of an armed force?
Since many of the rebel leaders are so difficult to research from afar, and since a sociological profile of the rebels cannot be done on the ground in the midst of warfare, perhaps the typical methods of social history can be called on for help. Is there a way for us to gain deeper insight into the climate of opinion which prevails in such northeastern Libyan cities as Benghazi, Tobruk, and Darnah, the main population centers of the rebellion?
It turns out that there is, in the form of a December 2007 West Point study examining the background of foreign guerrilla fighters — jihadis or mujahedin, including suicide bombers — crossing the Syrian border into Iraq during the 2006-2007 timeframe, under the auspices of the international terrorist organization Al Qaeda. This study is based on a mass of about 600 Al Qaeda personnel files which were captured by US forces in the fall of 2007, and analyzed at West Point using a methodology which we will discuss after having presented the main findings.
The resulting study1 permits us to make important findings about the mentality and belief structures of the northeastern Libyan population that is furnishing the basis for the rebellion, permitting important conclusions about the political nature of the anti-Qaddafi revolt in these areas.

(GCN LIVE) In a breaking exclusive, GCN News has learned of yet more abuse at the hands of the Transportation Security Administration. A father and son were detained by the TSA at an airport in Little Rock, Arkansas, today (Tuesday, Mach 22.) The reason? None. At least nothing logical to any right-thinking American.
“My son has always used the old family name”, Barr said. His son Brady, who is 18 years old, chooses to go by the last name Barraza, which was their family’s Basque surname, pre-Ellis Island.
Despite having never had any issues in the past with air travel, “today they decided to make an issue”, Barr said. “Even though [my son] had Supreme Court case and other federal cases he doesn’t have to get the permission of a judge to use the old family name.”
“Since I was with him, they [the TSA] also the questioned me as his father. I have a driver’s license that doesn’t have a picture on it for my own personal reasons. It’s the law; it’s allowed in Arkansas.”
“It was funny; because we suddenly found ourselves surrounded by five armed Little Rock police officers that they had called in, who then began to question us,” Barr said. “They ran my license and said ‘it shows that it’s a legitimate license, but you have no [criminal] record, so it’s like you don’t exist.’ So now I’m being tormented because I haven’t gotten any speeding tickets and I haven’t broken any laws.”
Barr told GCN News that he had to deal with the TSA, the Department of Homeland Security, the FBI, and the Little Rock police.
“They’re exerting their authority,” he said. “They had the Federal Manager of the assistant in charge of security and a separate investigator from DHS. We were informed that when we entered the security area that we are giving up our right against search and seizure and that we are willingly subjecting ourselves without due cause.” Barr told the authorities that sounded un-Constitutional, which was greeted by silence.
Barr’s son Brady Barraza (Barr) was then told that Washington D.C. needed to be made “aware” that he travels with a “questionable” name. (Racial and ethnic profiling, anyone?) Barraza also does not have a social security number. “He doesn’t exist in the system,” Barr said.
The Barrs’ ordeal became even stranger when an agent asked them the question “Are you sovereign?” When asked what that meant, Barr was told “There have been threats from sovereign groups against the TSA and/or DHS.” Therefore, the new Stasi-like Borg bureaucracy is “concerned” about people who don’t have the “right” papers or who lack an SSN.
Needless to say, despite having an hour and a half before their flight departure, the father and son were detained long enough to miss the flight. “I don’t know if it was ineptitude or indifference, but they did know about our flight. We missed our flight, but our baggage didn’t. Our baggage is now in the air on the way to California, although we were not allowed to fly.”
Authorities told Barr that his “record is clean, so it’s like I don’t exist.”
In the meantime, while waiting 12 hours for his replacement flight, Barr was told by an investigator from DHS that he had been cleared to fly, but his son hadn’t. The investigator informed him that Brady would not be allowed to fly unless he changed the surname on his ticket from Barraza to Barr. No reason, even an irrational one, was given.
As it stands, father and son Chris Barr and Brady Barraza have been detained for an entire day, forced to forfeit their Constitutional rights, and harassed by three Federal Agencies.
Barr did say that the Little Rock police were the easiest to deal with, and tried their best to expedite the process, but their efforts were blocked by the FBI, who claimed they had to do more investigation surrounding the “sovereign groups threat” that was posed by:
• A father and son traveling together with different versions of the same familial surname;
• The son having no Social Security Number;
• The father possessing a legal state driver’s license without a picture;
• Neither party possessing a criminal record.
In short, this father and son are what most people would consider to be model citizens.
This story needs to go viral. Why should law-abiding American citizens be forced to put up with harassment and abuse? What crimes have Barr and Barraza committed?
And what is their legal redress against unlawful detainment? What is their financial redress against emotional stress, lost time, money, and business?
The American people have the right to mobilize and organize against an out-of-control federal agency. It is time to use our rights or lose them.

But Thursday on Fox Business, the Ohio Democrat put the matter to rest, saying that impeachment won’t happen. “Impeachment is a process,” he told Lou Dobbs. That’s not going to happen.”

As we have documented, the so-called popular revolutions spreading across the Middle East are orchestrated affairs unleashed by the globalists, their NGOs, and agencies of the U.S. government.
“What happened in Georgia with the Rose Revolution and Orange Revolution in Ukraine in 2003-2004 was part of a long-term strategy orchestrated by the Pentagon, the State Department and various US-financed NGOs like Freedom House and National Endowment for Democracy to create pro-NATO regime change in those former Soviet Union areas and to literally encircle Russia,” author and researcher William Engdahl told RT in January.
”What is going on in the Middle East with the Jasmine Revolution in Tunisia that we saw a few days ago, and now in Egypt with Mubarak in his 80s, and obviously a regime that is not exactly the most stable one, we have a food crisis taking place as a backdrop and the IMF coming and telling these countries to eliminate their state food subsidies so you have, of course, the explosive background for popular unrest. Within that you have these NGOs, like Freedom House, training activists and trade unions and various other organizations to demand democracy, demand human rights and so forth,” he added.
Even members of the United Nations have accused Freedom House of being a CIA front that supports terrorists.
On Thursday, Defense Secretary Gates instructed the Syrian military to depose leader Bashar al-Assad and “empower a revolution.”
“I’ve just come from Egypt, where the Egyptian army stood on the sidelines and allowed people to demonstrate and in fact empowered a revolution. The Syrians might take a lesson from that,” Gates added.
While Assad is certainly a hereditary dictator, he is also one of the most popular leaders in the Arab world, according to a CNN Arabic poll conducted in 2009. If you follow the corporate media in the United States, however, you would think Assad is as reviled as Mubarak was in Egypt.
Internet activists and organizers in academia have been financed with over half a billion dollars through the State Department’s Middle East Partnership Initiative program to overthrow outdated dictatorships in the Middle East. Gates’ comments reveal Syria will be the next domino to topple over. The globalists are exploiting Syria’s difficult economic and social conditions, including high unemployment, rising food prices, constraints on personal freedom, and endemic corruption.
Gates did not bother to mention that Egyptians will not be allowed to protest their new government. On Wednesday, the Egyptian cabinet approved a decree that criminalizes strikes, protests, demonstrations and sit-ins that interrupt private or state owned businesses or affect the economy in any way.
The new Egyptian government is a creature of the Supreme Armed Forces Council headed by Field Marshal Mohamed Hussein Tantawi, who served as Mubarak’s defense minister for two decades. The military is controlled by Egypt’s elite and thus the globalists now engineering color revolutions throughout the neighborhood.
In order to head off the demands of Gates and the globalists, on Thursday Assad agreed to unprecedented reforms to his one-party Baathist state. Piecemeal reforms, however, will not be acceptable to the global elite and the political establishment in the United States.

The commander of anti Gaddafi rebels forces in Libya has admitted that among the ranks of those fighting against the government are islamic militants who have fought and killed US troops in Iraq, otherwise known as “al qaeda” fighters.
Abdel-Hakim al-Hasidi, who made the remarks in an interview with Il Sole 24 Ore, an Italian newspaper, admitted that he had previously recruited fundamentalists to fight in Iraq, and said that the fighters are “today are on the front lines in Adjabiya”.
al-Hasidi described the fighters as “patriots and good Muslims, not terrorists,” adding that “members of al-Qaeda are also good Muslims and are fighting against the invader”.
al-Hasidi himself was captured in Pakistan in 2002 and handed over to US forces after fighting against US troops in Afghanistan. He was held in Libya and eventually released in 2008.
The admission serves to highlight the hypocrisy of the US government’s so called war on terror, and exposes the reality behind the UN sanctioned military action in Libya.
The US, Britain and France launched airstrikes last week in support of the so-called “protesters” who commandeered fighter jets and tanks to attack the regime of tinpot dictator Colonel Gaddafi.
The rebels have been armed with weapons delivered by US allies via Egypt. There have been open calls from elite think tanks, such as RAND, to directly arm the fighters.
The US military is seriously considering doing so and is “considering the legality” of such a move, according to Mark Kornblau, spokesman for US Ambassador Dr Susan Rice.
It is therefore now beyond doubt that the rebels our governments are arming and supporting militarily are in fact at least in part Islamic fundamentalist Al-Qaeda cells who have fought and killed our own troops in Iraq and Afghanistan.
The fighters violently oppose the by comparison moderate and modernising regime of Gaddafi and wish to see it destroyed and replaced with sharia law in Libya.
Of course, When Gaddafi pointed out that Al Qaeda fighters were instigating a revolution in Libya, our castrated corporate media reacted by branding the man crazy and declaring him deluded.
This would not be the first time that our governments have equipped Al Qaeda against Gaddafi.
In 2002 French intelligence experts revealed how western intelligence agencies bankrolled a Libyan Al-Qaeda cell controlled directly by Bin Laden to hatch a plot to kill Gaddafi that was foiled in March 1996. The cell was led by Anas al-Liby, who was with Bin Laden in Sudan before Bin Laden returned to Afghanistan.
Indeed, it was Gaddafi’s Libya who put out the first Interpol warrant for Bin Laden’s arrest in 1998. Western intelligence agencies blocked the warrant from being pursued, and allowed Bin Laden and Al-Qaeda to go on and kill more than 200 people in the truck bombings of US embassies in Kenya and Tanzania.
Some of the very rebels now being funded and trained by western forces were part of the Al-Qaeda cell that tried to kill Gaddafi on behalf of the United States and Britain 15 years ago.
As the London Telegraph reported last week, “The West and al-Qaeda on the same side.” Libyan Al-Qaeda leaders have offered their unanimous support for the ousting of Gaddafi.
“An al-Qaeda leader of Libyan origin, Abu Yahya al-Libi, released a statement backing the insurrection a week ago, while Yusuf Qaradawi, the Qatar-based, Muslim Brotherhood-linked theologian issued a fatwa authorising Col Gaddafi’s military entourage to assassinate him,” writes Richard Spencer, highlighting how the “rebels” are in fact religious extremists hell bent on imposing sharia law in Libya.
All of this serves to highlight the fact that our governments’ contentions that they are in Libya to “protect” the Libyan people are beyond the pale.
Arming and aiding hardcore religious extremists in an effort to overthrow the government of Libya merely serves to provide for a situation somewhere down the line where our globalist controlled militaries will once again be provided an excuse to occupy the country and plunder its resources, just as they have in Afghanistan and Iraq.
