Tom Sullivan discusses various details of what you’d expect to see in the standard operating procedure of a controlled demolition, including the wide use of Thermite self-consuming shape charges, the availability of remote detonation (which he suggests is too expensive for most applications other than military) and lack of steel casings, seen mostly in older jobs. According to Sullivan, one would expect a ‘wave of explosions’ whether then one large boom, just as multiple pieces of video demonstrate from 9/11. Sullivan called the NIST report on Building 7 “very suspect,” while pointing out that he speaks as an individual based on his experience with CDI (but not in any way on their behalf).

At the heart of Sullivan’s statement, he says:

“I knew from day one this was a controlled event. And why I did that was simply looking at Building 7. You have a sudden collapse of a building; it’s fairly symmetrical as it comes down. There’s a classic kink, which means the center core collapses first. You can see that on the video. And the building falls near freefall. So I really, honestly, didn’t believe this from day one, because this is the way buildings classically come down with controlled demolition.”

The nuclear disaster in Fukushima makes it hard to ignore the vulnurabilities of the technology. It could spell the end of nuclear power, German commentators argue on Monday. The government in Berlin may now cave in to mounting pressure to suspend its 12-year extension of reactor lifetimes, they say.

The nuclear accident at Japan’s Fukushima plant following Friday’s earthquake and tsunami has led to anxious questions in Germany about the safety of its own nuclear reactors and is putting the government under intense pressure to rethink its decision to extend plant lifetimes by an average of 12 years.

German media commentators across the political spectrum are saying the accident in a highly developed nation such as Japan is further evidence that nuclear power isn’t safe. One commentator in the conservative Die Welt went as far as to liken the global impact of the Fukushima explosions to that of the 9/11 terrorist attacks.

Chancellor Angela Merkel’s coalition of conservatives and the pro-business Free Democratic Party (FDP) reversed the planned phaseout of the 17 nuclear reactors by 2021, amending a decision taken by a previous center-left government in 2002 to end nuclear power generation in Germany.

I am working on the final chapter of Solving 9/11, which focuses on the destruction of the crucial steel evidence from the World Trade Center. In the interest of accuracy and completeness this effort requires contacting the key players in the administration of President George W. Bush. Yesterday, I called and wrote to John Ashcroft and Michael Chertoff, respectively the U.S. Attorney General and Assistant Attorney General during the Bush administration. Ashcroft has not yet responded; Chertoff has.

Michael Chertoff, who headed the Criminal Division of the U.S. Department of Justice at the time, responded to my email question. Chertoff said that he does not know who authorized the destruction of the crucial evidence from the World Trade Center. The Federal Bureau of Investigation, it should be noted, an agency of the Criminal Division of the Dept. of Justice under Michael Chertoff, led the 9/11 investigation.

“Please take notice that the City of New York (“City”) has asserted that the contents of the enclosed DVD-ROM is protected under tbe Copyright Act, 17 U.S.C. sections 101 et seq. Tbe City expressly reserves its rights in these materials, and requires that you obtain the City’s permission prior to any reproduction, modification, adaptation, recompilation, or other derivative use of each DVD-ROM or portion thereof, including any still image extracted or derived therefrom, and that the City’s permission be obtained prior to the commercial distribution of any video footage and of still or moving images extracted or derived therefrom in any medium, by sale, rental, lease, lending or other means. The City requires that the instant notice accompany any moving or still images that you disseminate for any reason, including dissemination that complies with the fair use authorized by section 107 of the Copyright Act, and requires that each recipient of these materials comply with the instant Notice.

Rep. Peter King won’t look into Loughner’s radicalization because of 9/11

Appearing on State of the Union with Candy Crowley Sunday to discuss his upcoming hearings on Muslim radicalization, Rep. Peter King (R-NY) explained why he wasn’t planning on expanding the focus of the hearings to include clinic bombers or even the radicalization of men like Jared Loughner, accused of shooting Rep. Gabrielle Giffords (D-AZ) and killing eight people.

Crowley said incidents like Lougher’s assassination attempt “seems like an act of terrorism” and asked King, “So why is the influence there not in your purview, or why is it not part of your investigation?”
King responded:

“First of all, the Department of Homeland Security was set up after September 11th. The committee was set up after September 11th. We’re talking about a radicalization in this country which is linked to an overseas enemy. This is al Qaeda internationally that’s attempting recruitment in the United States. People in this country are being self-radicalized, whether it’s Major Hasan or whether it’s Shazad or whether it was Zazi in New York, these are all people who are identifying, one way or another, with al Qaeda or Al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula. This is an international movement with elements here in the United States. And to me, that is a real distinction. There’s always going to be isolated incidents, isolated fanatics, isolated terrorists even. But an organized terrorist effort, to me, is different, which is why it requires an investigation itself.”

Justices Hear 9/11 Detention Case

WASHINGTON—Supreme Court justices appeared skeptical of an attempt to sue former Attorney General John Ashcroft over allegations that he abused federal law by detaining dozens of people in the months after the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks.

The court heard arguments Wednesday in the case of Abdullah al-Kidd, a U.S. citizen who was detained and subjected to travel restrictions after being deemed a potential witness in a terror investigation. Mr. al-Kidd is suing the U.S. government and federal officials, including Mr. Ashcroft, saying his detention was an abuse of federal law.

The case centers on the roundup in 2001 and 2002 of hundreds of mostly Muslim men as U.S. law-enforcement officials scrambled to avert a possible follow-up attack. Prosecutors used a federal law allowing a person to be held as a “material witness” if needed to ensure their availability to testify.
