(NaturalNews) A recent chemical spill at a water treatment facility in Rock Island, Ill., required the assistance of an emergency relief crew decked in the very same type of hazmat suits being worn by workers at the Fukushima Dai-Ichi nuclear plant in Japan. Except instead of radiation, the leaked chemical at the water plant was actually hydrofluorosilicic acid, a chemical fluoride component commonly added to drinking supplies for the stated purpose of preventing cavities. This fluoride chemical is so hazardous that it actually began to burn through parking lot cement in Rock Island before emergency crews arrived on the scene.

According to reports from WQAD News 8 in Moline, a tanker truck delivering the fluoride began to overflow, leaking the chemical directly onto the parking lot where it spilled down towards the street. And before emergency crews arrived on the scene in full hazmat suits and gas masks, the fluoride had actually begun to burn a hole right through the concrete.

“It’s a corrosive agent that the water treatment plant uses,” said Rock Island assistant fire chief Jeff Yerkey, concerning the spilled fluoride. He explained that the crews had to use earthen berms, dirt, sand, and commercial broom equipment to stop the leak. Yerkey also added that there was no “inhalation hazard” from the incident, and no evacuation of local residents was required.

What is truly amazing about the incident is that this very same fluoride, which fire chief Yerkey specifically called a “corrosive agent,” is deliberately added to drinking water supplies across the nation. This highly-toxic chemical that, when spilled, requires similar protective equipment as does a radioactive fallout situation, is being added to millions of Americans drinking water supplies every single day in the name of promoting health.

In reality, the events surrounding this fluoride spill are more than enough proof for any rationally-minded person that adding this poison to water supplies is a bad idea. Anything that requires the use of a protective suit and gas mask in order to handle — and that burns a hole directly through concrete — simply cannot be good for the body when ingested.

Last-minute budget deal narrowly avoids the Big Government shutdown

The difference between the Democrats and the Republicans is that the Democrats want to spend us into oblivion while the Republicans only want to spend us into purgatory. The idea of actually running a balanced budget has never seriously occurred to either party. Government, after all, increases its popularity by confiscating money from some people and redistributing it to other people while keeping at least half of all that money for itself.

The whole fiasco became perfectly clear over the last few hours when, after days of intense haggling and late-night negotiation sessions, the Republicans and Democrats suddenly came to an agreement that would keep the government up and running for another week. And what does that agreement entail? Drop-in-the-bucket cuts of a mere $38.5 billion(http://www.nytimes.com/2011/04/09/u…) out of a federal budget that has now ballooned to over $6 trillion dollars for 2011 (http://www.usgovernmentspending.com…).

The federal deficit for 2011 alone will be $1.6 trillion. To put all this in perspective, if federal spending for 2011 were the length of a football field, the $38.5 billion in budget cuts amount to less than two linear feet. It’s sort of like saying we need to score a touchdown in order to save America, but the best the Republicans and Democrats can negotiate is starting us out on the one yard line in our own back field! Here’s another way to look at it:

Geniuses need not apply

Imagine, if you will, that you run a household which earns $5,000 a month in income. But you spend $15,000 a month on your credit cards. And you’ve been doing it for 20 years. So you now have a multi-million-dollar debt burden with compounding interest. Things are spinning wildly out of control. Something must be done!

So you convene an “emergency spending cut” meeting with your family members, and you explain that if you don’t cut spending, your family will go bankrupt and you’ll have to sell your home and all your possessions. Your family members meet for days on end, discussing the problem and staying up late into the night to try to cut your spending. They negotiate and bargain, but everybody is convinced their own spending is crucial for the survival of the family.

Somehow, a difficult negotiation eventually leads to an agreement. We will cut spending! And how much spending will we cut? A whopping $96 a month!

So now, instead of spending $15,000 a month that you don’t have, you’re “only” spending $14,904 that you don’t have! Amazing! We’re cutting our spending!
Are you now “saved” from your debt? Of course not! You’re still headed to the same financial collapse, but only at an insignificantly smaller rate of speed.

These numbers are roughly proportional to what has just been negotiated in Washington, by the way. Can you see how utterly useless these so-called “cuts” really are in tackling the exploding national debt?

The whole idiotic fiasco is shameful beyond belief. What’s most shocking is that in an age when Big Government is spending us all into economic ruin, even the “cut Big Government” Republicans can only walk out of the room with a scant $38.5 billion in reductions. And they call it a victory.

Why we must start cutting trillions from federal spending

Folks, let me lay it out straight for you: If we don’t start cutting government spending by the TRILLIONS, the United States of America is financially doomed. To have any hope of long-term financial sustainability, we need to cut about 80% of federal spending right now and get government down around $1 trillion a year in total spending. At that size, we could actually start paying back our national debt and get back in control of our own financial destiny.

But of course, that would be impossible because people expect government to deliver all these “essential government services” — even if it means going broke in the process and shifting all the debt to the next generation of taxpaying suckers. That’s the plan of the Democrats, by the way: Spend as much as possible and pretend the laws of economics no longer apply. Or just hope the next generation will somehow figure out a way to pay for it…

Are these services really essential?

I’m fascinated by the mainstream media coverage of this pending government shutdown. One prominent online newspaper says it would halt “essential government services” such as sending out tax refund checks. Of course, they completely fail to point out that if the government wasn’t confiscating a portion of your salary in the first place, you wouldn’t have to wait on them to send you back the money you already earned.

But that’s the question, really: What are “essential government services?” Aside from defending our shores and delivering the mail, there isn’t much the federal government should really do exceptget out of our wayand stop interfering into the lives of the American people who are trying to earn an honest living. Sure, I can see legitimate arguments for environmental controls on companies and the regulation of medicines, but if you really look at what that intention has turned into these days, government regulators have all become the marketing branches of the very industries they were supposed to regulate.

The FDA, for example, is really Big Pharma’s P.R. department. The USDA is Big Ag’s marketing branch. The DEA eliminate street drugs so that the drug companies can sell the exact same chemicals to children at monopoly prices (ADHD drugs are “speed”). The CDC is a total pharmaceutical sellout that pushes vaccines instead of real science. In nearly every case, the public would actually be better offwithoutthese so-called “regulators” which are actually just enforcers of the corporate-controlled monopoly state.

The government health care disaster

So what else does government do that actually helps anybody? It hands out health care services, people say, under Medicare and Medicaid. And yet it is precisely Big Government thatpreventspeople from accessing cheaper, safer natural health alternatives that wouldeliminateup to 80% of the cancers in this country in the first place.

Government is standing in the way of sensible disease prevention solutions that exist right now but cannot be honestly marketed because the FDA and FTC threaten anyone who makes a disease treatment claim for any natural product — even if that claim is scientifically true and validated!

When it comes to health, make no mistake: Government isn’t handing out health care; it’s handing out disease and suffering while protecting the pharmaceutical monopoly that denies lasting health to the People!

What about charity and science?

What about government charity to help those in need? The term “government charity” is an oxymoron, of course. You can’t claim to be charitable if you’re forcefully taking money from one group and then giving it to another. That’s not charity: It’s theft.

Real charity must be based on thevoluntarydonation of funds to a charitable cause. And if we could all get the onerous tax burden of Big Government off our backs, all sorts of people would open up to giving more to charity at the local level. Churches, cities and states operate charities with far greater efficiency than a centralized federal government that has no clue what’s happening on the streets in your local town, of course.

Oh, but what about all the research the government conducts in the name of science? Are you kidding me? Most of the “science” conducted by the government is fraudulent because it’s heavily influenced by the financial interests of industry. Very rarely does an institution like the NIH, for example, actually produce useful research that helps improve the quality of life for the average American. Most of Big Government’s so-called “research” is really just a bunch of arrogant scientists taking trips on the taxpayer’s dime so they can meet each other at conferences and give each other awards for producing increasingly meaningless “science” that either has no practical purpose or is blatantly obvious in the first place.

Did you know that lung transplant recipients have a lower risk of lung cancer if they don’t smoke after the lung transplant? Gee, really? And it only took twenty million dollars in government money to find out. That’s government research for ya…

Federal government uses taxpayer money to murder millions of animals

The USDA, meanwhile, actually spends taxpayer money committing themass murder of animalsunder a program called “Bye Bye Blackbird.”

Of course, most of the money Big Government deals with actually ends up in the hands of the rich Wall Street banksters. Remember the first $1 trillion bailout to the rich, wealthy elite in Washington? And then remember thesecondtrillion-dollar bailout? A third is no-doubt on the way.

You see, government is primarily in the business ofprotecting its corporate buddieswhile screwing over the American people. That’s why the government had no problem whatsoever coming up with a trillion dollars to hand out to a very tiny group of wealthy elite bankers while pretending that it still needs totax the peopleto raise the funds to operate.

Why the government never needed to tax the American people in the first place

Here’s the dirty little secret of government and taxation: There is no need to tax anyone at all. The federal government could simply create all the money it needs each year to run itself. Depending on how you count it, the total income tax revenues in a year are roughly $2 trillion, and the feds invented $1 trillion in a 24-hour period to bail out Wall Street. So why not just invent $2 trillion each year andeliminate the entire tax system?

Of course, as those familiar with monetary policy would rightly point out, this would debase the currency and ultimately lead to too many dollars being in circulation, driving up the price of goods. And yet government is doing that anyway! It’s creatingtrillions of dollarsin new money (M2 money supply) and debt instruments every year while pretending that somehow it still needs YOUR money to pay the bills!

Do you get this? Do you see that the entire tax system must have some other purpose than raising money to fund government? A government that has buyers for its debt can simply fund its own functions by selling more debt (and thereby stealing from the people through monetary debasement, but that’s another story).

So why is the tax system in place? Because the tax system is a very effective means forsocial control. There is absolutely no economic, fiscal or monetary reason why the government needs to take money from the People to fund its operations. That entire concept is a complete myth (and this doesn’t even get into the CAFR funds at the state level, either…)

Don’t we need members of Congress?

So what about government representing the People? Isn’t it important that we have Senators and Congressmen to make our laws and run our government? C’mon people, wake up! “You’re adults!” as Gerald Celente says (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rUX-…). Do we really need these people in Washington — most of whom are complete corporate sellouts — telling us what to do?

Of course not. If the entire U.S. Congress were disbanded tomorrow, and we all just voted directly on the laws of the land, it would immediately end all the corporate lobbying, corruption and bribery of the lawmakers. Adirect democracywould eliminate the Congress and simply allow the People to vote on the laws themselves. But of course Congress will never allow that to happen because the No. 1 mission of every government body is toprotect its own power.

That’s the whole story with the TSA, the federal agency that’s now reaching down your pants at the airport. In just a few years, it grew from less than 200 employees to over 60,000. And now TSA agents are the new Nazi police of America, planting fake bags of cocaine in your luggage (http://www.naturalnews.com/030302_T…), sexually molesting little children and pretending to be making air travel “safe” while, in actuality, they consistently fail to detect even large guns that are carried right onto airplanes (http://abcnews.go.com/Blotter/loade…).

Protecting our shores… all the way over to their shores!

And what about wars? Well, most people would agree the government has at least ONE job: To protect our shores. But all the way to the shores of Tripoli? “Protecting our shores” does not mean “bombing Libya” and then claiming it’s some sort of “humanitarian mission” (a total lie, of course). Protecting our shores means keeping invaders off our land. And yet by running these insane imperialist wars in Afghanistan, Iraq and Libya, the U.S. government is actuallyinviting terroriststo recruit new members and bomb the bejeezus out of America.

Let’s face it: If you really want terrorists to hate America, just go out and provoke them first. Sure enough, they’ll target you for revenge. And then when we’re attacked with a dirty bomb nuke by some terrorist group in the future, the President will no doubt explain we’re being attacked because “they hate our freedom.” No they don’t. They hate imperialist invaders! They hate America for bombing them first and firing depleted uranium shells into their towns and villages, releasing deadly radiation that will contaminate their lands for centuries to come.

Can you imagine what we, the American people, would do if the Libyan army flew a bunch of planes over our country and started firing DU shells into our cities? How angry would we be? How motivated would we be to seek some sort of revenge on the Libyans? That’s how they feel about us, you see. And we provoked it.

That’s why Big Government actuallycauses more problems than it solves. It gets us into wars; it spends us into impossible debt; it protects corporate monopolies and denies people access to natural healing remedies. Government tramples on our freedoms, molests us at the airports, and takes away our Constitutional rights. Big Government gets us into wars we can’t afford and confiscates the money we’ve earned before we even get to see it.

And worst of all, Big Government can’t help butkeep getting bigger. It is now so bloated and so “fiscally obese” that even the threat of a total shutdown can only convince our lawmakers to cut a miniscule fraction of total spending — an amount that will make virtually no difference whatsoever in the fast-approaching financial bankruptcy of the U.S. government.

Mark my words, folks:The U.S. government will never get its debt under control. And that means it can only be headed toward one thing: A total debt blowout ending in financial collapse. Because while you can mock the laws of compounding interest for a while, you cannot alter them.No government can spend its way out of debt, no matter how much political spin is applied by the White House.

The Kyodo News Agency reports that radiation around the hobbled Fukushima nuclear plant is 1,600 times the normal level. The astounding figure was released to the media by the International Atomic Energy Agency officials on Monday.

Data collected by an IAEA team show that radiation levels of 161 microsievert per hour have been detected in the town of Namie, Fukushima Prefecture, the officials said, according to a report posted by House of Japan.

Tests carried out by IAEA technicians in numerous locations around the plant revealed radiation levels ranging between 2 and 160 microsievert per hour, while the normal level for the area should not exceed 0.1 microsievert per hour, the Russian newsite RIA Novosti reports.

A CBS affiliate in Wisconsin also reported on the high radiation levels that will ultimately be dispersed around the world and will undoubtedly result in unprecedented health problems and premature death from cancer. Most of the corporate media, however, did not bother to report the story.

Reuters reported that there was 500 microsieverts of radiation per hour on March 18 at the site but does not explain what this means. It did not mention the 1,600 number.

Earlier in the week, nuclear energy critic and author Hirose Takashi wrote about the media effort to obfuscate the truth about Fukushima:

Around Fukushima Daiichi Station they measured 400 millisieverts – that’s per hour. With this measurement (Chief Cabinet Secretary) Edano admitted for the first time that there was a danger to health, but he didn’t explain what this means. All of the information media are at fault here I think. They are saying stupid things like, why, we are exposed to radiation all the time in our daily life, we get radiation from outer space. But that’s one millisievert per year. A year has 365 days, a day has 24 hours; multiply 365 by 24, you get 8760. Multiply the 400 millisieverts by that, you get 3,500,000 the normal dose. You call that safe? And what media have reported this?

The corporate media as the complaisant handmaiden of the elite are obliged to cover up the truth. In the end, all of us – especially our children – will pay for it.

Just as Bill Clinton’s bombardment of Serbia was launched on the back of a humanitarian hoax about fake concentration camps, establishment media outlets are already busy contriving phony stories about Gaddafi using “human shields” to convince the American people that the $100 million dollar a day attack on Libya is virtuous and noble.



The latest example comes from Fox News, who completely manufactured the claim that Gaddafi was using  western journalists as human shields to prevent fighter jets from bombing his compound.

When the U.S. government prepares to throw another $1 billion-plus at a new war even as Americans see their living standards eviscerated and record numbers are forced on food stamps, the propaganda necessary to sell the conquest has to be slicker than ever before.

With many starting to question the credibility of evidence that Gaddafi is abusing his own people, as so-called “protesters,” backed by US arms from Egypt, commandeer fighter jets and tanks in their bid to overthrow the government, the demonization of Gaddafi as a monster who needs to be toppled for the security of the region is imperative.

That’s why Fox News completely manufactured a claim about Gaddafi using journalists as human shields to prevent his compound from being bombed and ran it as an exclusive story yesterday.

In a piece entitled, EXCLUSIVE: Libyans Use Journalists as Human Shields, Fox News’ Jennifer Griffin & Justin Fishel wrote, “An attack on the compound of Libyan leader Muammar al-Qaddafi on Sunday had to be curtailed because of journalists nearby, Fox News has learned.”
“British sources confirmed that seven Storm Shadow missiles were ready to be fired from a British aircraft, but the strikes had to be curtailed due to crews from CNN, Reuters and other organizations nearby. Officials from Libya’s Ministry of Information brought those journalists to the area to show them damage from the initial attack and to effectively use them as human shields.”

But there’s a problem, one of the CNN journalists supposedly used by Gaddafi as a human shield subsequently appeared on CNN and labeled the claim, “Outrageous and absolutely hypocritical.”

“The idea that we were some kind of human shields is nuts,” CNN international correspondent Nic Robertson told Wolf Blitzer, adding that the 40 journalists on the tour of Libyan government buildings were free to get on and off the bus whenever they wanted.
Robertson pointed out that Fox News didn’t even send a journalist on the trip, instead dispatching a security guard, adding that the Fox News journalists in the country rarely ever leave the hotel.

“To say they didn’t go and for them to say this was government propaganda to hold us there as human shields when they didn’t even leave the hotel is ridiculous,” stated Robertson, adding that the journalists were even physically pushed back on the bus because Gaddafi’s officials wanted to get them out of harm’s way as quickly as possible.

“When you come to somewhere like Libya, you expect lies and deceit from the dictatorship here. You don’t expect it from the other journalists,” said Robertson, adding, “If I sound angry it’s because I am.”

Had it not been exposed by the commendable Robertson, the benefits of this hoax would have been twofold – on one hand, Gaddafi is made to look like a careless savage who has no concern for human life, and particularly western journalists, using them as sacrificial lambs for his own propaganda purposes.

Secondly, it gives the “humanitarian” hoax behind the attack some legitimacy, suggesting that British and American bombers really do care about protecting civilians lives.

Fox News has proven itself to be a complete tool of the US military-industrial complex. Nothing it now reports about the attack on Libya can ever be trusted.

The establishment media is no stranger to inventing phony human rights atrocities in order to promote and legitimize wars.

President Bill Clinton’s depleted uranium holocaust in Serbia, the consequences of which led to thousands of cancer deaths, was manufactured for mass consumption by the helpful establishment media in a glossy package of deception based on a similar “humanitarian” hoax.

Clinton’s war was launched on the back of a fabricated controversy involving a Serbian relief camp that housed Bosnian refugees, which the media spun into being a Nazi-style “concentration camp” in which emaciated Bosnians were being imprisoned against their will.

The footage broadcast by the global media was contrived so as to make it look as if the Bosnians were inside a barbed-wire enclosure, when in fact it was the British TV news crew who were inside the enclosure and who were filming through the barbed-wire to the outside, where Bosnians had gathered. The “emaciated concentration camp victim” was in fact a man with a natural birth defect.

Publications like Time Magazine ran the hoax alongside headlines like Must It Go On?, and the public was told that air strikes were imperative to protect the civilian population. The subsequent NATO-led attacks on the country, aided by Osama Bin Laden and Al-Qaeda, with depleted uranium weapons caused civilian deaths and crippling long term health effects that dwarfed anything Slobodan Miloševic was accused of.

War Propaganda Begins: Media Reports Gaddafi is “Collecting Bodies” To Blame Deaths On UN Bombing

Libyan government officials say they have declared a ceasefire. Libyan rebels say the ceasefire is a hoax. The Western military industrial establishment says it will send fighter jets anyway.

The propaganda is already flying in every direction.

The media is repeating totally unsourced stories that Gaddafi is “collecting bodies” of people killed in attacks his forces are still carrying out and that he plans to place them in strategic military locations so he can blame civilian deaths on UN sanctioned air strikes.

Iraqi incubator babies, WMDs, serbian death camps and non existent air strikes spring immediately to mind.

Entire reports are being written, many of them based purely on twitter comments and a Youtube video (below), claiming that while it is claiming to have instigated a ceasefire, the Libyan government is still indiscriminately shelling rebel held areas.



Rebels say that Gaddafi is bluffing and that government forces have been bombing the city of Misurata since yesterday evening, while the government insists that the ceasefire is already under way, and that no military attacks have been launched in Misurata or anywhere elsewhere today.

A government spokesman told Reuters, “We don’t know who to reach at the UN Security Council to work out the technicalities of the ceasefire. That is the problem at the moment which we are trying to resolve.”

The spokesman, Moussa Ibrahim, has told the London Telegraph reporter Richard Spencer that the Libyan government has asked the Maltese and Turkish governments to oversee the ceasefire, sending personnel on the ground if they see fit and is awaiting their response, adding that “it cannot be just a one-sided ceasefire,” demanding that that UN provide an intermediary to hold discussions.

Meanwhile, Hillary Clinton is telling the media that she is “not impressed” with the words of the Libyan government.

So, who do you believe? On one side you have a crazy but brutal tinpot dictator, on the other a war hungry neo-colonial global establishment hell bent on expanding its domination of energy rich and politically strategic regions of the planet.

Unfortunately it simply doesn’t matter anymore, either way the people of Libya and the free world still lose.

What started as an uprising of humanity shaking off the shackles of oppression and could have ended in an global expansion of consciousness has once again been strangled in its infancy and completely bastardized by those who live to dominate and dominate to live.

The decision has already been made to “operationalize” war on Libya.

Ask yourself, who is this new war coalition supposed to be protecting? Why do our elites suddenly give a damn about Libyan rebels when for decades they have been openly selling arms to Gaddafi’s regime.

Of course they could give less of a damn about Gaddafi either, our governments have attempted to remove him from power multiple times, even employing the likes of Osama Bin Laden to carry out the dirty work.

The Anglo-American establishment, the neo-colonialist elite, the globalist military industrial complex, the new world order – give it whatever fancy dan, wordy or downright kooky name you like – it’s still right outside your door and its still demonically intent on firing death, hate and destruction at anyone or anything that opposes its unequivocal, unconditional and unmitigated global domination.

However, this seemingly unending cycle is wearing thin, every time it is played out more and more people are waking up to reality, discovering who their real enemies are and what they must do if they are to forge any form of fruitful future for their children and their children’s children.

With every illegal, despicable war in which it engages it grows weaker and only speeds its own downfall.

How much of a threat is the nuclear crisis in Japan?  That question is on the minds of millions of people around the globe tonight.  Unfortunately, the Japanese government and the mainstream media have both been doing their best to downplay this crisis.  Even though there have been massive explosions at the Fukushima Dai-ichi nuclear facility, authorities in Japan have still been very stingy with information and they keep insisting that the situation is under control.  But the situation is not under control.  In fact, it just seems to get worse with each passing day.  Radiation levels are now incredibly high at the Fukushima Dai-ichi complex and the radiation cloud is starting to spread.

Radiation levels in Tokyo are already 10 times above normal levels, and there are reports in the international media that some people have begun to flee the city.  It is imperative that the Japanese government tell the truth about what is going on because this could potentially affect the health of millions of people.

There are over 12 million people in the city of Tokyo alone.  If this nuclear crisis continues to get worse it could potentially end up killing more Japanese than the tsunami just did.

Yes, things really are that serious.

We are not just talking about a repeat of Chernobyl.

We are possibly talking about “many Chernobyls”.

A large explosion at Japan’s stricken Fukushima Daiich nuclear power plant reveals that a meltdown is now underway following the exposure of the core following an 9.1-magnitude earthquake.

The media in Japan is not reporting this fact in order to prevent mass hysteria.



Prior to the explosion today, the media reported the radiation level was 1000 times higher than the permissible level.

Kyodo News agency said radioactive cesium had been detected near the 40 year old facility, citing the nuclear safety agency.

Government spokesman Yukio Edano said radiation levels around the Fukushima Daiichi plant in northeastern Japan had not risen after the explosion, despite earlier press reports it had.

It is obvious the Japanese are attempting to cover up the deadly seriousness of events unfolding in their country.

The white smoke emitted from the Fukushima plant resembles the smoke emitted at Chernobyl after the Ukrainian nuclear plant blew up and caught fire on April 26, 1986. Here is a documentary on the events at Chernobyl.

Chernobyl has been blamed for thousands of deaths due to radiation-linked illness.

“If the pressure vessel, which is the thing that actually holds all the nuclear fuel … if that was to explode — that’s basically what happened at Chernobyl — you get an enormous release of radioactive material,” said Prof. Paddy Regan, nuclear physicist from Britain’s Surrey University.

Reuters reports this morning that experts examining pictures of “mist above the plant suggested only small amounts of radiation had been expelled as part of measures to ensure its stability, far from the radioactive clouds that Chernobyl spewed out when it exploded in 1986.”

This characterization is at odds with video of the explosion showing large plumes rising high above the crippled plant.

Even though 210,000 people were evacuated from the region, Japanese authorities and the corporate media insist the situation is not serious. Japanese Prime Minister Naoto Kan has said that only a small amount of radiation has been released from one of the reactors.

Wind charts reveal that radiation released from the plant will adversely impact nations surrounding Japan.
