Thousands of Egyptian protestors continue to flood the streets of Cairo demanding that the military relinquish control of the government to civilian rule. This is the new challenge following the ouster of President Mubarak last week, as the military junta takes its direction from the West and continues to show support for US and Israeli policies that divide the Mulsim world.
Former US Ambassador to Iraq Edward Peck recently told Press TV that “The Egyptian government now seems to intend to continue the same path of cooperating with the blockade of the people in Gaza. This has always been one of the things that the Egyptian people and the other people in the area did not like … and perceive as the Egyptian government’s acquiescence in supporting what Israel is doing with the Palestinian people.”
Peck maintains that the Egyptian people have thus far gained very little in their call for independence and believes that the promised elections in six months are a far off prospect that faces many obstacles.
“We have seen far too many situations like this, when the people in power decide that they (would) really like to stay in power,” Peck stated.
Thus far, The Egyptian military may seem to be the apparent heirs to the Hasni Murbarak throne, but it is clearly the CIA that is calling the shots.
