SYDNEY (MarketWatch) — Hopes that Japan’s nuclear crisis was stabilizing were dealt a blow on Wednesday after another fire broke out at the No. 4 reactor of the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear plant in northeast Japan.

The latest fire, which started around 5:45 a.m. local time (4:45 p.m. U.S. Eastern time) according a Nikkei report, comes on the heels of three explosions and one fire at the nuclear complex which suffered damage after Friday’s 9.0 magnitude earthquake and tsunami.

Smoke was still emerging from the complex at 10:50 a.m. local time, reports said, although accounts said it was unclear if the smoke was coming from reactor No. 3 or No. 4.

The blaze reawakened fears that the worst of the nuclear crisis might still lie ahead. Worries that Japan might be facing a full-blown nuclear catastrophe sparked a selloff in global stock markets on Tuesday.
