Former head of SDI blows the whistle on the militarization of space

Bowman, a former Director of Advanced Space Programs Development for the U.S. Air Force in the Ford and Carter administrations, and a former United States Air Force Lieutenant Colonel with 101 combat missions. He holds a Ph.D. in Aeronautics and Nuclear Engineering from the California Institute of Technology. Bowman is a prominent critic of the Strategic Defense Initiative, aka “Star Wars,” and has also been a vocal advocate for the 9/11 truth movement. Since the early 1980′s, Bowman has headed up an organization called The Patriots (http://www.thepatriots.us), which mainly consists of former top ranking military officers. The goal of the group is to make public servants follow the Constitution, honor the truth and serve the American people.

Bowman has been targeted with death threats, government harassment and three tax audits in two years as a consequence of his bold truth-telling activism, which all started when he blew the whistle on the fact that Reagan’s Star Wars program was an offensive act of military conquest in space and a means of waging aggressive pre-emptive warfare, disguised as a defensive program.

Bowman notes that his dissent was in fact encouraged by Reagan’s own Joint Chiefs of Staff, who privately thought that the whole idea was “military lunacy”.

The initial intention was to use the space shuttle as a platform from which to test the star wars technology against targets on earth, states Bowman, a prospect that alarmed the JCS who feared that this would confirm Soviet suspicions that the space shuttle was nothing more than a weapons platform disguised as a component of a peaceful space exploration program.

Bowman compares the notion that John F. Kennedy was killed by a lone assassin by a shot fired from behind when the footage clearly shows the fatal shot came from the front to the equally ludicrous explanations offered for the collapse of WTC Building 7 on 9/11, and points to how the likes of BBC and CNN reported that the building had collapsed over an hour before it actually fell. The difference between 1963 and now, points out Bowman, is the fact that after Kennedy was shot almost everyone had heard about the grassy knoll, whereas the vast majority of Americans have no idea about Building 7 because the mainstream media has completely failed to investigate the matter.

One of the ongoing issues that concerns Bowman is the preparation for a military attack on Iran, and through his organization he encourages the Pentagon and soldiers of all ranks to refuse to obey unconstitutional orders, a duty codified under the Nuremberg code. Bowman states that if Israel is given the green light to attack Iran, which seems to be the current attitude under the Obama administration, that all US aid to Israel should cease immediately.

Speaking on the subject of how Obama has abandoned almost every ideal he talked about before he became President, Bowman points to the fact that Obama’s top foreign policy advisor is Zbigniew Brzezinski, the author of the grand chessboard and a guru of geopolitical manipulation, and how Obama has merely accelerated the move towards global government under his watch.

Bowman notes that the American people are being divided by hot button issues which in reality have little significance, while there is absolute consensus amongst the global elite when it comes to major issues no matter who is in the Oval Office.

Former Director of the Star Wars program, Dr. Robert M. Bowman, spoke with Alex Jones and crew in an exclusive for PrisonPlanet.tv — Coming in March 2011.



Dr. Robert M. Bowman (born 1934) is a former Director of Advanced Space Programs Development for the U.S. Air Force in the Ford and Carter administrations, and a former United States Air Force Lieutenant Colonel with 101 combat missions. He holds a Ph.D. in Aeronautics and Nuclear Engineering from the California Institute of Technology. Bowman is a prominent figure in the 9/11 Truth Movement and spoke at the 2006 Los Angeles symposium put on by Alex Jones and Charlie Sheen, which aired on C-SPAN.

Despite his involvement with space programs and defense, he emerged as an early public critic of the Strategic Defense Initiative (SDI, also aka “Star Wars”) during the Ronald Reagan administration. On The MacNeil-Lehrer News Hour, he called it “the ultimate military lunacy, easily overwhelmed and vulnerable”.[4] Bowman founded the Institute for Space and Security Studies, and its publication Space & Security News (1983) (ISSN 1071-2569), and authored two books on the subject of SDI. He is also a critic of an outgrowth of the SDI program, the Bush administration’s proposed National Missile Defense.[5]

Bowman is active with Veterans for Peace and Vietnam Veterans Against the War as a speaker.[6][7][8] He had also been a member of the Peace Commission of the Episcopal Diocese of Washington.[9]

In 1998, Project Censored cited Bowman’s article “Our Continuing War Against Iraq,” in the May 1998 issue of Space and Security News as one of the few (along with Bill Blum of the San Francisco Bay Guardian and Dennis Bernstein) covering what they deemed the fifth most censored story, “U.S. Weapons of Mass Destruction Linked to the Deaths of Half a Million Children.”

Bowman has also been a frequent candidate for office, including a run for Congress in Florida in 2006 and an attempt at gaining the Reform Party candidacy for president in 2000.
